My wife often says that the news is always unhappy stuff. Today there was something truly unhappy. George Carlin died of heart failure. Saw him in Richmond many years ago, along with Leon Redbone. A spectacular performance. And he was spectacular, what a brain, what a loss. George, we will miss you.

Picked the videos that did not bother me, Ron. The bad words are not offensive - would not use them when talking to my grandchildren. Some of his stuff I just avoid. It is America. His intelligence and brain power are astonishing, however. He was one of a kind and will not be repalced.

One slanted Carlin demise report mentioned only his foul mouth. Apparently he had redeeming qualities. ...no determination here-knew little about him-different generation.

I was out driving today when his observation about others on the road came to mind, "Have you ever noticed that those who drive slower than you are idiots and those who drive faster at maniacs?"
He wasn't always right, but he was always funny and he made you think.
An icon of comedic counter culture that survived the sixties continuing to say, "Listen guys don't get so hung up that ya can't see things in another way...a fun funnier way". People like him are priceless to our fluid nature.... Pop'

If you click on it three times, Geico, you summon forces from outer space to come and visit you in the night. Hope they have good straight-jackets over there.

sinann, Goerie was the best. You know, I never understood one of the "seven words". Why was "turd" in there? I think you can say "turd" on TV, can't you? . He played, of all things, a Catholic Cardinal in "Dogma", one of my favorite movies. I know they did that on purpose! If the Christians are right, George is feeling the heat, and so will I! Joe

Leon still gets around, too, Peever. Saw him in Richmond many, many years ago and have a couple of his very first records. And noticed his name on the list of appearances at the Birchmere in Alexandria just a couple of months ago.
Many Blogstream members are there
already! Quotes from members: "It's like blog lite!" -- "I like the instant
gratification!" -- "Stop spectating, get in the game!"
If you have not joined in, you are really missing out!
Nice tribute -
Many points at which George and I probably wouldn't have agreed on - but he certainly was one of kind and will be missed -

I mistakenly clicked on the first clip three times. Listening to Carlin in thrice cadence was even more phenomenal.
