My 'puter at home is just an old Dell Optiplex with only a couple of gigawhizzes. Everything runs slow. I play a lot of spider solitaire waiting for stuff to come up on the screen. Visiting my daughter's home and using her whizbang computer, it is VERY obvious when something is slow. And blogstream is slow. Still play spider. Someone wrote a blog posting a while ago but could not find it to give it a refernce. I have a mirror blog on blogger (http://sinannblog.blogspot.com/) and it loads up considerably faster than blogstream.
Appreciate the fact that we are pretty much getting something for nothing. Blogstream gives us a nice service and we do not pay a plugged nickel for it. If all the blogging sites charged something, would pay as long as it is not much. Blogging is enough of a joy to be worth it. We get TV shows for nothing except the pain of watching really stupid efforts to rip us off. Blogstream's ads could be a lot worse.
But the fact is still there. Blogstream is slow. Two minutes for a page to load is really slow.
p.s. The blog post that I referred to above is in Whit's comment below. Thanks, Whit.
I find the 'slow' issue to be very inconsistent - some mornings it is very slow - then it suddely speeds up... I read the newspaper while waiting for it to come up. I have found closing some of the windows seems to help - not THOSE windows, Harry
Maybe they're listening today. At the moment - there's quick action!
Seems to be worse in the morning for some reason.
just remove the cover, and you will see the memory card..it has a snap
holder to release it..pop it out...go to the store...tell them you want more memory....snap em in...and your good to go....
I wrote a post earlier this month on the slowness of Blogstream. Here it is.
Blogstream Is a Slow-Moving Stream
I have noticed a significant slowdown recently in navigating Blogstream. A few weeks ago, the difficult times for navigation were early in the morning and late in the afternoon when more bloggers were online. Now I am experiencing difficulty at all hours of the day. My new computer is lightning fast on all websites except Blogstream. Sometimes it takes me 10 minutes to do what I should be able to do in less than a minute. Blogstream is not user friendly, and as a result I am getting extremely frustrated. This morning when I went to Pencil Louie’s blog titled “The Niche”, I noted that he had this to say about Blogstream:
Is it just me, or is this the slowest site on the entire Internet? I run a 6 gig DSL connection, using IE7 with Maxthon2 browser and a pretty beefy computer and I have no troubles anywhere except here. It is like using a 14.5 K baud dial-up modem on a shared telephone party line. Good Lord, this is 2008, not 1985.
I went to Yahoo! Answers with this question : Why is my internet connection so slow on some sites? These were the answers:
1. Sometimes it's down due to their hardware and network connection. I worked for a company which had a site supporting around 250,000 users and it only had a 4meg internet connection!
2. There are three main reasons.
-You have dial-up
-The server is filled up with a lot of people
-The server is cheap which makes it slow.
Well, I am on high-speed cable, so the problem apparently is related to too many people being accommodated by an overwhelmed server. I enjoy the community of Blogstream, but my frustration occasionally reaches the breaking point.
I had been thinking the same thing but now this evening things have been responding well ..maybe they will get the bandwith problem solved with the server or maybe they did cuz this eve is different for me///laTERS...Pop'
He was OFFLINE for almost a MONTH (to the DELIGHT of many, btw - GRIN) and he comes back a couple o' days ago and this site CRAWLS and MOVES SLOWER than OLD TallPockets does after first getting up in the morning and before his JOLT of COFFEE.
MAYBE the National Intelligence folks are MONITORING this site for NUT CASES like OLD GRUMPY TallPockets???
Oh well .... such is life, my friend. WINK.
