We have met the enemy and he is us

 Crooks
Back to Full Blog

Received this from a relative. Can not verify it. But know in my heart it must be true:

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little
more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year...

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

I had seen this tally a few months ago and it all goes back to the lack of participation in the political process by the citizen...A little education goes a long way. Can u imagine a system for the people and by the people where the people don't give a damn...on second thought, no imagination needed here...like the story goes, we get what we deserve..lets hope that changes with what appears to be an increase political awareness.....Pop'

Hi Sinann,

Whoa, that seems frightening. Can that be right?

Never know how accurate these things are, Pop. But this one I can believe. Like you say, we have met the enemy .....

I hope with Obama or McCain there will be a step in the right direction this time, TAB. If it is Hillary, we can all just get out the Vaseline and wait for it to come.

It is one of those things that come in emails from relatives, Explorer. Whom can tell, whom can tell? But it fits in with other junk that keeps coming up in the news. And if Hillary can get as far along as whe has, these things can happen, too. You don't get politicians like this up there, do you ?

Shame on me for even thinking such a thing, but when the thing with Eliot Spitzer, former NY governor, came up, I actually posted this comment at a message board where I take out my political frustrations: "why hire {a prostitute} to come to DC from NY? Guess I'm naive, but I thought DC was full of--ahem--houses of ill repute (two of them the House and the Senate)."

For going on four decades now, scandal has been the biggest accomplishment of our government. So yep, sinann, this is most definitely possible.

There are houses of ill repute in D.C., for sure, Fairweather. The people getting s*&^%ed are us, however. And we don't even have to be present. How is that for modern technology? We can get s%$#@^ed from a distance.

You know I would tend to believe those stats I wish they could be confirmed but then confirmed by who. There probably not that far out of line with any big company, except for one stat that is missing and that is why I tend to believe it could be true

0% illegal aliens ( and that one I think should be checked)

peace out

There is a lot of stuff that comes on the internet that is not genuine, Joe. But that stuff certainly sounds to me like it is. And Clinton is there for each one of them.

To paraphrase Hank Williams Jr., we're gettin' s*^&%ed but we're not gettin' kissed, sinann. And to think we keep reelecting the same ones, over and over.

Hoping Obama or McCain might be s step in the right direction. What a dreamer, what a dreamer.
