The muse failed me today until going to Peever's blog (http://thepeever.blogstream.com/) where he muses on tuning 60. Still a rugrat. He has a video there by a newcomer called Bob Dylan. It got me thinking about what was my favorite back when the Class of '54 graduated from Lewisburg Joint High School. Do you know that if your put in a year and the word music, Google will tell you all about it? Fabulous.
The one that jumped out was “Beale Street Blues”. Back then this was a bad song. At least, it was as close to bad as I was going to get.
Don't know the name of this group. It just says recorded in Paris, 1960:
Looked for Louis doing “Beale Street” but it does not seem to be on YouTube. Here is a modern version. Salty Dogs:

And to think that in some decades in the future, Explorer, some geezer will go to their version of Google and say something about P-diddy or Pink and how great the music was back in 2008. There is no accounting for people's taste. Why can't they all appreciate the great music that we loved?

Blues should be blues. That one sounded like blues, didn't it, Ron? I listened to a bunch on imeem and YouTube and many were well done but not what I think of as blues. Nor Memphis and Beale Street.

New Orleans seems to be so much of a tourist trap. But the tourist support does bring lots of good music. Still need to see it some time. One of my daughters goes there to make homes for Humanity. She loved it.

It is fun to listen to, isn't it, Curious. Heartaches sometimes but no violence or social upsets or hatred. And just plain ol' good music and good musicians.
